It is not too cold in winter nor too hot in summer in Zhangjiajie and the annual average temperature is 16.8℃. Zhangjiajie is noted for its natural scenery, thus the best tour time is during April to October.
In July, there is often shower in Zhangjiajie, so the ghat is slippery. In addition, fog is heavy. You’d better take care when climb under such condition. It is one or two hours after raining that the best time to travel here for heavy fog having created a fairy land and making yourself think that you are as if walking in the clouds.
In winter, it will snow. But the mountain won’t be sealed owing to the good infrastructure. The snow is quite heavy above the altitude of 1000 meters. You’d better take attention to warm yourself. Though cold, paying a visit in winter will definitely give a totally different experience.
Attention that every Spring Festival, summer and National Day are tourism peak season in Zhangjiajie and the price for eating, accommodation and transportation will rise about 50% to 100%. It’s better to avoid the peak period. In addition, the Zhangjiajie Tourism Information Network will provide special tour lines during holidays in time. A earlier preparation will reduce your trouble during travel.
