According to Xiangtan Customs District PRC, Shaodong County’s export business dominated by luggage brands like “Zhiduohu” and “Hao A’you” kept increasing from January to May in 2014, reaching a trade volume of 106 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 46.5%, and luggage export trade volume of 42.28 million USD, increasing by 147%. Brand effect has enjoyed more advantages in the ferocious competition in overseas market.
In recent years, Shaodong has implemented the strategy of “brands prospering county”, which encourages enterprises to innovate self-developed brands instead of cheap copy and fake products. Currently, the county boasts three national famous brands and 56 provincial ones. Its total number of registered trade brands reaches 4,086, ranking first in Hunan. Over 2,000 trade brands have been registered in recent five years in traditional industries like lighter, metal hardware and luggage.
“Made in Shaodong” is now rather popular in over 80 countries and areas. Besides, production bases for small metal hardware and lighters were established in over 10 countries in Southeast Asia.
