    BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Travel demand on China's railways remained huge on the second day of the nation's seven-day National Day Holiday as more people have chosen to travel. More than 7.1 million journeys were made on the railways on Oct. 2, up 6.1 percent year-on-year, according to data released Monday by the Ministry of Railways (MOR). The railways carried a record 8.928 million passengers throughout the country on Oct. 1, the first day of the week-long holiday. Both long-distance and short-distance travelers saw rises in numbers, which contributed to heavy traffic, according to the ministry. A total of 259 temporary trains were put into service on Oct.2, the second day of the country's week-long holiday. Traveling by railway is the primary transportation mode for travelers.     The release ceremony for "Hunan and the 1911 Revolution" and the symposium for descendants of the 1911 Revolution were held in Changsha on Sept.28, marking the 100th anniversary of China's Revolution.During the Revolution period, Hunan boasts a huge number of outstanding revolutionary leaders who care about the world and the people, such as Huangxin, Song Jiaoren, Cai'e, Jiang Yiwu, Jiao Dafeng as well as Chen Zuoxin. The book "Hunan and the 1911 Revolution" was edited by the Revolutionary Committee of Chinese Kuomintang Hunan Provincial Committee, and Zhou Tienong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) wrote the title and dedication page.     The drawing of lots ceremony for the 24th Asian Cup Table Tennis Tournament took place on September 27 in Changsha. 30 women and men table tennis players including some Ping pong stars like Ma Long, Guo Yan, Guo Yue, Wang Yuegu and Jiang Huajun entered for the games.  The Asian Cup is an annual table tennis tournament held by the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU). The 24th Asian Cup 2011 was scheduled in March 26-27, Yokahama, Japan. It was postponed due to the devastating earthquake in Japan this March, and rescheduled for Sept. 28-30 in Changsha, China.Chinese men team is comprised of Ma Long and Xu Xin. The former will compete against Tang Peng from Hong Kong, Chan Kazuhiro from Japan and Yang Zi from Singapore and the latter will challenge Kim Min-Seok from Korea, Jiang Tianyi from Hong Kong and Jiang Penglong from Chinese Taipei.
