On August 3, Setsuya Nakada and his colleague from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), commenced their three-day comprehensive survey and assessment in Zhangjiajie. On May 4, Chen Li, member of the Hunan Photographers' Association (HPA), returned from London, England, with great honor. His winning image, "Rain in an ancient town", stood out in selected display of the Sony World Photography Awards, hosted by the World Photography Organisation (WPO), making him the general champion of open photographer and honoring him the title of annual photographer, which is a great achievement in this event. This is the first time that a Chinese contestant has been awarded as the general champion in this event. Chen Li is from Fenghuang County of Hunan Province. His work "Rain in an ancient town" was drawn from the Fenghuang ancient town, portraying his affection and love for his hometown. The work presents the theme of misty and rainy Fenghuang, with ancient residential buildings as background and typical Chinese stone mounds s as foreground. It adopted slow shot technique, combining Chinese traditional artistic style and modern photographing techniques, fulfilling spiritual worth. The Sony World Photography Awards, hosted by WPO, is one of the most influential photography awards in the world. This event included four categories- open group, professional group, youth group, and professional student group, and over 100 thousand works of photographers from all over the world participated in the contest.
