Zhao Xiaoming, Mayor of Zhangjiajie City Government, host Meeting about constructing Global Observatories on Sustainable Tourism in Zhangjiajie on 24th November. In the meeting, high officicals of government departments in Zhangjiajie discuss how to build up Global Observatories on Sustainable Tourism.
UNWTO start Global Observatories on Sustainable Tourism in 2004. Global Observatories on Sustainable Tourism is that UNWTO choose some tour areas to research their culture, society, econmy and envirorment protection. According to the research, find a sustainable development way for tour area. The first Global Observatories on Sustainable Tourism set up in Yangshuo in China in 2005. UNWTO established Monitoring Center for UNWTO Sustainable Tourism Observatories in Zhongshan University in 2009.

Hu Bojun, the Sectury of CPC Committee of Zhangjiajie City, applied for enjoying Global Obervatories on Sustainable Tourism in Zhangjiajie in 2009. Zhao Xiaoming, Mayor of Zhangjiajie City Government, visited UNWTO headquarters and decide to take Global Obervatories on Sustainable Tourism in Zhangjiajie on 20th July, 2010.
