The Hainan Airlines opened its non-stop service between Changsha and Melbourne on November 9, 2016. This was Changsha’s second direct flight to Oceania, and the forth direct intercontinental flight, after the Changsha-Sydney route opened on Sept. 12. On the afternoon, a flash mob was staged at the departure hall of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport, to celebrate the opening of the Changsha-Melbourne flight. A group of staffs in kangaroo costumes danced with Australian folk music, attracting passengers to cheer and dance together. The Changsha-Melbourne flight on Airbus 330 will be operated every Wednesday and Sunday. It will take off at 17:45 Changsha time and arrive at Melbourne at 7 o’clock the next day morning, and then take a return flight from 9 o’clock to 16:30. This flight further enlarged Hunan’s international airline network, and facilitated Changsha’s progress as a regional aviation hub for international transportation. So far, Changsha Huanghua International Airport has operated more than 150 flights of over 50 airlines, covering 119 cities in China, South Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The Xiangjiang Forum lowers its curtain on Oct. 30, 2016. In 2015, Hunan’s tourism revenue hit 371.29 billion yuan, ranking tenth in China and achieving an annual average growth of 21.1 percent and an increase of 160.4 percent over the end of the 11th five-year plan period. Hunan’s tourism gradually enjoys a more prominent position as a strategic pillar industry. During the 12th five-year plan period, Hunan’s tourism industry focused on the target of building the province into a tourism power and has made efforts to improve quality and efficiency, said Chen Xianchun, director of the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Tourism. Chen added that the scale of tourism industry has been in expansion mode and the tourism economy has maintained sound operation. The province’s tourism contribution to GDP hit record high and tourism taxation made new progress. Its tourist reception capacity and tourism revenue have been increased. Tourists’ satisfaction with tourism service quality has been enhanced. Hunan has expanded its tourism source market to surrounding areas and Yangtze River Delta region. The investment scales in tourism continued to increase due to an increasingly optimized investment structure. The tourist consumption structure has been gradually improved and the proportion of shopping spending was on the rise. A sound tourism product system has taken shape, integrating vacation tourism products, special tour products, and new tourism products. Employment grew fast in tourism industry. In 2015, Hunan received 473 million tourists from home and abroad, an increase of 133 percent over that of 2010. The added value of tourism industry reached 152.848 billion yuan, accounting for 5.26 percent of the total GDP of the province.
