    Baojing's Young Drummer Wins Gold Prize in World Chinese Youth Art Festival

    Peng Bo, a six-year-old drummer from Baojing, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, won the gold prize in the 11th World Chinese Youth Art Festival.This event was co-hosted by the Malaysia Branch of the World Federation of Overseas Chinese and the China International Cultural and Arts Communication Association and undertaken by the organizing committee of the “Chinese Culture Wu Zhou Xing” program. It was staged in a theatre of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with over 1,200 candidates from three countries and two regions participating in it. The contest was divided into group A and group B for the youth, children and preschool players. Accompanied by his mother, young Peng Bo participated in the Children group A’s competition on behalf of Hunan. Distinct from both the Qingming Festival (in spring) and Double Ninth Festival (in autumn) in which living descendants pay homage to their deceased ancestors, during Ghost Festival, the deceased are believed to visit the living.     On August 23, when over 300 cyclists from nationwide set out from the starting line, the 2015 “Zhang Guying Village – Dayun Mountain” mountain bike race was launched in Yueyang County of Hunan. On the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the bicycle race aimed to recall the memorable revolutionary history and commemorate the revolutionary martyrs as Yueyang County was then a main battlefield of southern Hunan.The race was divideed into men’s group and women’s group. Starting from Zhang Guying village, cyclists passed the beautiful Tieshan Reservoir, named as “Thousand-island Lake in Hunan”, and ascended 15 kilometers along the slope roads before reaching Dayun Mountain.
